Castell Tregaron
DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) On a hillslope overlooking the town of Tregaron from the NE sits an unusually defended inland promontory fort, Castell Tregaron. The impressive NE ramparts protect the NE approach from higher ground and its steep-sided SW approach defends itself. Apparently, several hut platforms populate the interior. Remnants of stone revetments on rampart faces. Complex zig-zag entrance through ramparts. The site looks like it has been damaged over the centuries and is also home to trial-bike races on its southern side. No recorded finds or excavations, hence undated*. (Scheduled monument) Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Demetae *Possible age range 2000-2700BP (Before present) Descriptions from hillforts.arch.ox.ac.uk & Dyfed Archaeological Trust HER. 1st ED OS Mapping via National Library of Scotland.
