Craig Gwrtheyrn
[PRN 1823] Overlooking the (river) Afon Teifi 1.4km east of the town of Llandysul sits the commanding multivallate contour hillfort, Craig Gwrtheyrn. The highest ramparts are circa 4.2m. Outside the ditches on the SW corner entrance lied a ‘chevaux-de-fris’, or a defensive element, in this case pointed stones half a meter high inserted upright in the ground like a tank trap. This was reported in 1935 by ‘Gardner’ but little remains of this feature today. No recorded excavations or finds, hence undated.
