Narborough Camp
DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) I saw this site flag-up on @essexwalkingbritain and as I’m from that neck of the woods (King’s Lynn) I used to go fishing in the trout lakes at Narborough as a kid but had no idea this was here. Mind you, it’s on private land, & hidden in woods and I wouldn’t have fancied some farmers shotgun pellets up my bracket because I sneaked over the fence for a shufti. Palaeolithic Pot & lithic implement find. Iron age pottery & Roman pottery found in the 1930’s. Early Saxon burial. Medieval pottery. In around AD 1600, ‘bones and amour’ were found. (undated) Rampart levelled on one side in 19th century. Dated as a hillfort between 800BC to 42 AD (Roman invasion) (Scheduled Monument) [Any descriptive text is attributed to the Atlas of Hillforts & Wikipedia websites and any associated archaeological descriptions online which will be credited accordingly.]
