Warham Camp
DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) Just to the southeast of Wells-next-the-Sea lies Warham with it’s twin-ringed multivallate hillfort, Warham Camp. Landscaping in the 18th century modified the course of the river which removed part of the SW rampart. The three breaks in the ramparts are modern. Called ‘Danish Camp’ in the 1930’s. Original 1712 map shows complete rings as well as the attached Fayden’s Map of 1797. 1st excavated in 1914 then 1933, 1959 and 1986. Pottery finds date it to circa 200BC. Romano British finds & material suggest a building but there has been no Geophys survey.
