Oldbury Camp
DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) Near the eastern coast of the River Severn, the village of Oldbury-on-Severn is built around the Iron Age bivallate marsh fort, Oldbury Camp. This camp lies only 14 meters above sea level and is nearly completely destroyed by buildings and roads. Disputed Iron age pottery finds, although Iron Age date confirmed in 1990 via evaluation trench. Roman pottery & many Roman coin finds. Disputed Danish origin. (As a Viking fleet once sheltered in the River Severn.) Occupied since the 13th century. (Medieval pottery finds) Iron workings discovered in the interior (undated). Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Dobunni (Scheduled Monument. Updated 1992. I bet the home owners on the site are gutted. No house extension for you!)
