Knole Park Camp
DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) On the outskirts of Bristol to the NW, just over the M5 in Almondsbury lies the ‘completely destroyed by a housing estate’, hillfort Knole Park Camp. This housing estate overlooks the most awesome Cattybrook Brickpit where there was a post Iron Age, Romano British settlement called Cattybrook, which has also been destroyed. Apparently, all this building work & quarrying happened between WW1 & WW2. First mentioned in text: Samuel Rudders New History of Gloucestershire in 1779. Any finds are either buried in the gardens of the properties or removed & dumped when the houses were built. Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Dobunni (Un-Scheduled Monument as it sort of no longer exists…)
