Ashbury Camp
DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) This is the first of my Cornwall series (alphabetically). Just to the east of the remains of medieval Penhallam Manor and to the west of Week St Mary and ringed by trees lies the univallate partial contour hillfort, Ashbury Camp. Earth and rubble rampart construction. Irregular outworks, both bisected by modern farm tracks. First written records predate 1st Ed OS map in 1884. Wide context view indicates late medieval site within Week St Mary. No recorded excavations or finds, hence undated. Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Dumnonii (Scheduled Monument) [Any descriptive text attributed to the Atlas of Hillforts & Historic England websites]
