Castell Gwynionydd
DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) NNE of the village of Llandysul & overlooked by the much larger hillfort, Pencoed Y Foel on the hilltop to the north lies the defended enclosure, Castell Gwynionydd. Completely hidden within woodland. Even though it is not on the early OS Maps, as you can see, it may have been written about in 1216 as ‘King records a castle in the commote of Gwynionydd’ but the sites morphology suggests a possible Medieval construction date. No recorded finds or excavations, hence undated*.
