DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) Just to the west of Castell Moeddyn (previous post) sits the small inland promontory fort, Castell Moeddyn Fâch. Heavily defended entrance on N side. Bracken-filled interior. Possible site of the medieval Castell Mabwinion (1216 AD) but records conflict here as this medieval castell may have been sited at Castell Moeddyn. As the interior size is around 50m N-S you could just squeeze-in a couple of substantial roundhouses (circa 16m diameter) or several smaller ones if this is indeed an Iron Age site. Morphology suggests Iron Age though. No recorded finds or excavations, hence undated*. (Scheduled monument) Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Demetae *Possible age range 2000-2700BP (Before present) Descriptions from hillforts.arch.ox.ac.uk & Dyfed Archaeological Trust HER. 1st ED OS Mapping via National Library of Scotland.
