

DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) Two Kilometres east of Prestonbury castle lies the ‘unusual partial contour hillfort, Wooston Castle. A quick internet search shows an excavation by the Woodland Trust in 2019. (https://whittle.woodlandtrust.org.uk//2019/05/05/wooston-castles-secrets-revealed/) The Atlas of Hillforts site does not record any previous excavations, so the site is currently undated. The above Woodland Trust excavation found lots of charcoal which is currently under dating investigation.
