This is the first of my new hillfort series and probably the most disappointing to look at. Mind you, it is a 'new' find as such and hasn't had a site visit yet. Overlooking the steep sided valley of the Afon Rhydafallen & southwest of the village of Maenclochog (possible standing stone(s) at village due to name: Maen) lies the inland promontory fort, Allt Fawr. The 'Ringing Stones' are said to lie 'an arrows flight' SE of the village church (Wales HER). Fort discovered via ariel photography as a crop mark in 2012. This D shaped enclosure with bivallate ramparts has now almost been destroyed. No information on Wales HER yet. No recorded finds or excavations. Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Demetae
