DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) To the southeast of Plymouth and protruding from the base of Hope Cove lies the promontory coastal fort, Bolt Tail Camp. 19th century cultivation may have affected the site as well as coastal & footpath erosion. WWII slit trenches surround the fort. First recorded in 1887. Last site visit in 1995. Minimal investigations hence the fort remains undated. Nine barrows lie to the southeast of the site. Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Dumnonii (Scheduled Monument) [Any descriptive text is attributed to the Atlas of Hillforts & Wikipedia websites and any associated archaeological descriptions online which will be credited accordingly.]
