Castle Goff
DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) Three kilometres north of Helsbury Castle & overlooking Lanteglos from the west lies two sites of interest: Castle Goff (Iron Age round) Unnamed Iron Age Round Castel Goff is described as two annexed enclosures. Unusual site as it resembles a motte & bailey. First written reference 1849. Last site visit in 1986. Literally zero information on such an interesting looking site! Unnamed Iron Age round (known locally as 'Delinuth Camp') First written reference in 1883. The LiDAR is hinting at an internal circular rampart although the entire site has been heavily degraded by ploughing. Trackway bisects the site. Electric pylon erected straight through western rampart (knob-heads). Google Earth shows ploughing still continues to the NW side despite being a scheduled monument. No recorded excavations or finds, hence undated. Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Dumnonii (Scheduled Monuments) [Any descriptive text attributed to the Atlas of Hillforts & Historic England websites]
