Lescudjack Castle
DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) Just above Penzance train station and overlooking the A30 lies the mostly destroyed univallate contour hillfort, Lescudjack Castle. Size now deduced from existing property boundaries, but the attached 1882 OS maps show its original plan. Outer rampart possible along cliff edge to the north. Small excavation in 2005 found quarrying evidence. Ancient name: 'The place of Cradock' or 'Lescaddock Castle or The Giant's Round. Visited by W. Borlase in 18th century. Last official site visit in 2007. No recorded finds, hence undated.
