DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) To north of Exeter below Stoke Woods and part-ringed by trees lies the univallate partial contour hillfort, Stoke Hill Camp. Heavily degraded by ploughing. Small excavation in 1935 found iron slag and 1st century pottery. To the southwest of the site within Hilltop Riding School’s boundaries lies the ploughed-out remains of a Roman signal station. No subsequent excavations or finds recorded. Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Dumnonii (Scheduled Monument) [Any descriptive text is attributed to the Atlas of Hillforts & Historic England websites]
