DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) Southwest of St Mary’s Church in Sturminster Newton & hidden across four fields lies the heavily degraded univallate contour hillfort, Banbury Hill Camp. When a water pipe was laid across the north entrance in 1986, a rampart was found that was constructed from local limestone with flint fragments. No excavations, hence undated. If you live around there its probably worth a field walk (with permission obviously) as after years or centuries of ploughing, there should be plenty of Iron age pottery fragments just gagging to be picked-up. Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Durotriges (Not a Scheduled Monument) [Any descriptive text is attributed to the Atlas of Hillforts & Wikipedia websites and any associated archaeological descriptions online which will be credited accordingly.]
