DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) Just to the north of Elfordleigh Hotel & Golf Course northeast of Plymouth in Cann Woods lies the univallate partial contour hillfort, Boringdon Camp. Damaged by quarrying & ploughing. The trapezoidal outwork on the SE corner was a barbican which protected the entrance. The N-S linear feature to the east of the site is an abandoned medieval road which ran from Plympton to Shaugh Prior up until 1840. First recorded in 1886. Geophys records post holes and roundhouse evidence. No recorded physical finds. Minimal investigations, hence undated. Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Dumnonii (Scheduled Monument) [Any descriptive text is attributed to the Atlas of Hillforts & Wikipedia websites and any associated archaeological descriptions online which will be credited accordingly.]
