DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) Lying around 4km to the east of Ledbury, Herefordshire is the topography-following partial contour hillfort, Midsummer Hill Camp. Early excavations recorded 483 roundhouse platforms. Radiocarbon dates yield construction start circa 470BC. Evidence of a large fire records it’s destruction circa AD48. There are only Iron age finds so far, so whether the Romans bothered to occupy the site after its burning is still unknown. Site degradation halted in 2010 and the land is now under ‘new management’ due to its significance. The quarry to the south which was used to source stone for road construction is called Slasher’s Quarry. “Rock you want is it? Go an’ see Slasher. He‘ll sort you out no problem mate…” (Scheduled monument)
