The Frith
DTM- (Digital Terrain Model, i.e. No buildings or foliage) Directly to the north of Silchester within woodland lies the degraded univallate contour hillfort, The Frith. The southside has been heavily ploughed out but you can just make out the bank which reconnects to the rest of the fort on the animation. A post Roman trackway bisects the site. Cavella Atrebatum (Silchester Roman town) lies just to the SE was originally an Iron Age site before the Roman invasion, so The Frith may have been part of the same tribe. No recorded excavations, hence undated. Iron Age tribal association (conjecture based on location): Belgae or Atrebates (Scheduled monument)
